Yard Sale SCORE!

I bought this bucket of ammo today at a yard sale. THe old woman was asking $5. You'll be happy to know that against my normal business practices I didn't try to beat her down. I just handed her a five and said thank you. So far Ive separated:
78 .30 Carbine
56 7.62x39
62 22-250
49 .223
9 45/70
15 .35 Remington
There's still a PILE of small bore pistol and a bunch of .45 Colt, .41 Mag, .44 Mag and .44 Special. Then there's a bunch of 280 Remington and another pile of rimmed rifle rounds I haven't sorted. It was worth getting up early for!

On a another forum this sort of thing gets a 'you suck' award

this definitely qualifies for that

it would have been funny if you convinced her to pay you for disposing of dangerous ordnance

Hell YES!, got to pay the bills. The 280 Remington, .41 magnum, .35 Remington, 22-250 and the weird small bore stuff will get sold. Heck that 280 can bring $2 a round, I'm bettin the .41 mag is another expensive round.

Well, put me down for some 7.62x39 and .45 ACP :ok:

Definitly a good score if that 280 will bring in 2$ a round. I stil would have talked her down to 3.50 :4_1_72:

I like how the brass on the magnifying glass blends in with the rest of the brass all over the table.

What a steal. Did you not inquire as to what happened to the guns that were used to shoot them?

LOL!!! It ain't luck, I beat the bushes HARD and once in a while something falls out! It beats a 9-5 any day. Oh BTW I scratched the bucket, it's plastic all the way through, bummer. OH well, got to get up early again in the morning, Flea Market!!!

I agree with pretty but I think you might need that magnifying glass. There is a great deal of discoloration on most of that brass. Can you even tumble live rounds?!?!

I wouldn't consider it that rare, actually I wouldn't consider it rare at all. While not a common Mart-Mart caliber most decent gunshops stock some and it is easy to find all over the web.

I just am not sure I would put any of that ammo in a gun I owned. Without knowing what might be reloads, who might have loaded it, condition of brass, whether or not it is corrosive...only thing I would do with it is break it all down for components. But I am picky...lol.

I've been told that throwing live ammunition in a tumbler is basically like asking to have your gun blown up if you ever use the said ammunition. The danger is not blowing up ammo in the tumbler, but making the powder very, very, very fine. Meaning you just increased your burn rate by a factor of 10, resulting in an epic KB!

This is false. The manufacturers tumble their ammo after loading. Heck, an hour or two in the tumbler is less vibration that riding around in the back of a truck in Iraq for months on end.

Wow I didn't know that, and when you think about it makes a whole lot of sense.

I mean all the small arms ammunition on planes, helos, etc etc. Lots of vibration for hours and hours.
